Gloria A. Daly, 71, a longtime staff member of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, died April 4 at Fairfax Nursing Center of
complications of strokes.
Mrs. Daly was born in Washington and graduated from Anacostia High School. She attended George Washington University for
two years.
She joined the Agriculture Department in the mid-1950s as a secretary in the office of information systems and later worked with
the department's Economic Research Service and Agricultural Research Service.
She eventually became a personnel specialist and staff assistant for the National Agricultural Statistical Service.
Mrs. Daly received USDA certificates of merit in 1972, 1980 and 1985, as well as an award from her section in 1992.
She retired in 1997.
After her retirement, she helped care for a neighbor and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and friends.
Her marriages to Edward Knott and Rex F. Daly ended in divorce.
Survivors include a daughter from her second marriage, Dana Daly Fitzgerald of Annandale; a sister; and three grandchildren.
