Arthur Terman "Art" Faircloth, 88, of Fredericksburg passed away
Thursday, April 1, 2010, at Mary Washington Hospital Emergency
Center.
Art enjoyed many sports including golf, which he played mostly in
Fairfax and Fredericksburg, and bird hunting, since he wouldn't shoot an
animal with four legs, and football. He attended and played football for
Anacostia High School in Washington, D.C., where he earned a full
athletic scholarship to North Carolina State University. After college, Art
went on to play football for the New York Giants during the 1947 season
in the triple-threat position.
Art worked for NBC Television in Washington, D.C., for 25 years,
retiring in the late 1970s. He loved life and lived it to the fullest.
He is survived by a daughter, Anne Faircloth of Spotsylvania County; a
son, Arthur M. Faircloth and his wife, Sharon, of Warrenton; a
granddaughter, Laura M. Faircloth-Vandegrift of South Carolina, and a
great- grandson, Garrett B. Vandegrift of South Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bettie M. Faircloth.
In lieu of flowers, Art's family requests that expressions of sympathy
take the form of donations to Spotsylvania Volunteer Rescue Squad, Box
101, Spotsylvania, Va. 22553.
