JEWEL H. BRICE "Julie"
(Age 88)   

Passed away Thursday, March 2, 2017 at her
residence in Basye, VA.

Julie was born in Washington, DC, July 3, 1928,
daughter of the late Ben and Alma Rose Hayes of
Congress Heights, DC.

She was a graduate of
Anacostia High School
(1946)
and attended George Washington University.

As a young girl, she spent several summers at Bryce's Hillside Cottages, in Basye,
VA; first as a guest and later as a waitress. There she met her future husband, Paul
"Pete" Bryce. They later developed the resort from a summer destination, to a four
season recreation center, Bryce Resort.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years and her grandson, John.

Survivors include a son, Tom Brice and wife, Yancy; three daughters, Lee Ann
Brice, Ellen Brice and Mary Rust and husband, John Rust; three grandsons, and
four great-grandchildren.

Julie was an avid gardener, floral designer, quilter, weaver, and lover of four legged
creatures. Julie cherished dearly her family, many friends and community.

Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 West
Cork Street, Winchester, Virginia, 22601. Also, Shenandoah Area Agency on
Aging, 207 Mosby Lane, Fort Royal, Virginia 22630.
